What If (A Poem)

What if the blessing were the trial
Would you refuse; be in denial?
What if the trial promised blessing
Would you relent and learn the lesson?
What if the lesson posed a threatening question?
Would you ask the Father for a suggestion?
What if the suggestion took you far from home
Would you leave your comfort zone?
What if –such a vast sea of possibility
If we didn’t run from its uncertainty
~~~~~
Just some thoughts that came my way
I will carry them with me day by day
Not let them be carried away
No matter what the people say
Be anxious for nothing, I heard Him speak
Pray about everything; in Me do seek
~~~~~
Until the what if becomes realty.
**Although this was written for a specific person, I pray it will encourage others to turn the negative "what if's" to positive.**
I'm no poet, but this seemed the best way to keep my words few.
Blessings to you!

Top-level comments on this article: (6 total)I've always been governed by the worst kind of "what-if's", until I met someone who taught me to say what if everything turns out well. I know life gets horribly challenging, but I can't believe that anything happens for bad. I think it's all for good.Hi Jennifer. Thank you for sharing. I agree completely. When Joseph forgave his brothers for selling him into slavery, he said these great words: "What you meant for evil, God meant for good." These are very wise words. Blessigns to you!
I think some of the greatest opportunities in our lifes could be categorized as "what ifs" to begin with!Hi MJ - so true, and even if the what if turns out to be something bad, we still have the opportunity to learn and turn it into good. love ya!
Good poem Teresa, you made it rhyme goodThank you David. It wasn't easy - you know I like to talk a lot :-)
Well said, T. One of the best life lessons I ever learned is that I don't really know when something is "good" or "bad". Only time can really tell.Hi Jean. Thanks for the comment. You are so right. Some will certainly be bad, but we miss out on a lot of good if we don't forge ahead.
Great poem, it is very encouraging.Hi Lorna. Thank you for reading. I'm glad you are encouraged. Blessings to you! Teresa
