Who Is That Crazy Lady Standing at Her Door - And the Woes of Being a New Mother

The day had arrived for my husband and me to move. My mom was a mess; she couldn't stop the tears from flowing. "I'm never gonna see you again! You'll get busy and forget about me." "Mom, get a grip, I will be right down the street."

"But still..." she went on to say.  This was two months ago, and I am happy to say, we see each other five days a week.  So it's only for 30 seconds, but hey, it's better than nothing.  This is possible due to the fact that I drive past her house every morning on my way to work.  We have the perfect plan; I send her a text just before starting my car-she texts back, "Smiling".

Take this morning:

As I got closer to her house, I saw this woman standing on the porch waving like a crazy person with a big smile on her face. I smiled while driving past, only half looking her way, (I don't want to hit the car in front of me.) and waved back.  AH! It's heaven on earth, I said to myself.  This has been our weekly routine since then. Oh! There have been a few times when I pulled in to the driveway, jumped out of my car, and ran to the porch to give her a hug. With no time to talk, I run back to my car and head on down the highway.

After driving past this morning, I caught the eye of the driver in the car next to me - and that is what took me back 23 years.

~~~~~~
"I love you sweetie, you're so beautiful" This I said while looking through my rear view mirror.
About 15 minutes into the drive, I noticed a van behind me; no big deal. I carried on with my smiles and kisses. I couldn't help be elated - what woman wouldn't be
Shortly after this I blew a few kisses. I am sure my face was aglow with pure delight, I know for sure I was smiling and waving continuously until the light would turn green.
About 15 minutes into the drive, I noticed a van behind me; no big deal.  I carried on with my smiles and kisses. I couldn't help be elated - what woman wouldn't be?
Suddenly the light changed colors - in my head! My vision was clear - it wasn't just a van; it was a van filled with 4 or 5 men!  Men, whom I realized, thought I was smiling, waving, and blowing kisses to them! Oh Dear! The driver was way too close and all those men had big smiles and were waving and blowing kisses right back to me!
Oh God! What did I get myself into - help!!!
Before I knew it, the van was along side of me and I could feel all those eyes on me. I did not look their way, and did my best to slow down and get away from the van.  It didn't take long for them to get the hint.  I am sure they thought that I was a big tease. Heck, all I was doing was flirting with my brand new baby girl who was sitting in her car seat, in the back seat of my car!
~~~~~~

After the man looked at my mom, he noticed I was waving back. All became clear.  So the next time you are out driving and some crazy lady is waving and blowing kisses - don't take it personally, she just might be looking at her daughter.

Hi Brianna! I do feel blessed! We were far apart from each other for many years. Glad you enjoyed my little tale. I wish I could say it wasn't true. And honestly, as I was recalling this incident, I wondered - what would Brianna have done? Blessings!
