Do the Limbo Rock - You'll Be a Limbo Star

"Don't move that limbo bar, you'll be a limbo star, how low can you go?"

Remember this song?  This, like most other ramblings of mine, begin as a repeated thought. Although in this case it would be a song. So, please welcome Chubby Checker as he joins me in this little diddy.

"Every limbo boy and girl, all around the limbo world..."

Why is it that something meant to be light-hearted, mindless fun can turn into something philosophical?

This last day of 2010, I find myself in a place I never would have expected. It's not a bad place, but different nonetheless. You'd think by blah-blah - years old, one would know better than to expect with too much expectation -- if this makes sense.

"Gonna do the limbo rock, all around the limbo clock, Jack be limbo, Jack be quick - Jack go unda limbo stick, all around the limbo clock, Hey Let's do the limbo rock."

I've found I am no longer lost in Limbo, I'm living in it. Not only me, but so many people these days; it must be the new normal.

"Limbo lower now, Limbo lower now. How low can you go?"

Instead of "waiting to see what happens", live in the now. How can we make a difference for others? How can we improve ourselves? Get rid of the phrase "If only". It's crippling.

"First you spread your limbo feet, then you move to limbo beat - Limbo ankolimboneee, bend back like a limbo tree..."

Someone once said, Don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow has enough worries of its own. Which one of you can change one thing about yourself by worrying? Such powerful words IF we apply them.

So phrases like, " I can't wait until - _____." will no longer flow from these lips - unless it is used for such things like, "I can't wait until my children get home."  When we spend our time waiting for something else to happen, we miss out on all of the beauty an opportunities right in front of us.

"...There's a limbo moon above, you will fall in limbo love. Jack be limbo, Jack be quick, Jack go unda limbo stick - All around the limbo clock Hey, let's do the limbo rock."

Wherever you find yourself  on this New Year's Eve,

"Don't move that limbo bar - You'll be a limbo star."

Wonderful words of wisdom, Sis. I pray your work continues to grow, as I do when I read it.

HI Bro-Bro - thank you for the wonderful words of encouragement. I'm feeling a little rusty, but I do hope I continue to grow. Lord bless you as you continue to seek to know Him more and more. Many blessings to you for 2011!

Ah the limbo. I enjoyed it but approached it with some dread since my body isn't all that flexible. I was always amazed at how much some people could bend. Great analogy.

Hi Val! How are you doing? Thanks for reading . Happy new year to you. I used to love doing the limbo. We did it a lot at birthday parties when I was a kid. It's funny how much more limber we are when we are young, before we grow older and stiff. I think this happens emotionally as well. All the best for 2011!

You're on! My husband is the limbo king by the way, at least he has been on many vacations south. :)
