Snake Bite, Fragmented Thoughts, and a Prayer for Dean

It's 3:00am my mind is frozen – a plethora of fragmented thoughts -- mind not able to comprehend what the heart knows to be true.
Patti called early evening (6:45pm) to tell me she was following the ambulance to the hospital; a rattlesnake bit Dean. Fear hiding behind the calmness, not wanting to over react. The anti-venom will kick in – he will be fine in no time.
8:45pm; Dean transferred to another hospital where he will remain for two days. His body swollen, not wanting to breathe. A bit more serious – step up the prayer.
1:15am; Dean may not make it past 12 hours. The words hang in the air – my brain not registering. I regroup and pray with her on the phone. Red Cross being contacted to send emergency instructions to bring Deano home from Iraq. We hang up – too many phone calls to make. Lord go before Patti.
1:30am; Call Art. He is stunned by the news – off to the hospital – not really wanting to believe it has come to this.
1:45am; Call Brittany – come home, let's pray – not good. Tears, big tears. No way Lord, no way.
3:23am; Art calls – Dean seriously swollen, throat restricted. Anti-venom not often used, making it literally by the book, not by experience. Cannot sit more than an hour before dispensed. Trying to wean him off – how long, how much more – doctors discussing.
Pray – Pray – Pray.
Heavenly Father,
Search my heart Lord; cleanse me that my prayer would not be hindered. We need a miracle – show yourself strong on his behalf. Give the doctors wisdom. Touch him, heal him, restore his body, speak strength into his body to fight his way through. Comfort the entire family. It can't be time – his family needs him. Lord your word says we can and should come boldly before the throne of grace that we may find help and comfort in time of need.
Lord, this is what I am doing – in humility and in the name of your most precious Son, my Savior Jesus Christ. And I ask for Dean's survival. You said that all things work together for the good for those who are called according to your purpose; Lord I pray Dean will cry out to you – I pray his family draw near to you, that this would turn out for your purpose and for your glory. We who love him do not want to let him go, we who love him, desire he live a long and prosperous life – We live in a fallen world, and some things must be as a result, but we do not give up without a fight. Nevertheless, not our will, but yours be done.
I pray believing; expecting your perfect will.
