At last, the long-awaited DVD release of House – book turned movie. Some of you were lucky enough to see it on the big screen, others waited for the DVD just as I did. Others may not have heard of it at all.
If you are one who appreciates a good supernatural thriller, but prefers to do without the sex, guts, and gore, this is the perfect movie for you.
The suspense kicks in the moment the opening credits role and doesn't let up until the ending score begins. In this supernatural thriller, you are taken into the world of darkness – will you stay in the dark, or will you trust the gentle nudge of the light? Join in the journey; experience their pain – experience freedom -- or not.
Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti are top-notch when it comes to telling tales that reveal the reality of Light and Darkness - good and evil. The ordinary characters breathe life into realistic situations in which many of us find ourselves.
As with any movie, it can never out-do the book, yet this on-screen adaptation of House does a fantastic job of taking you on an emotional roller coaster -- leading you places you do not expect to go and will have you taking a deep breath in the end.
Make some popcorn, cuddle with a blanket, and spend the night in the House with two couples who are about to play a real game of life and death. Try to survive and.....

If you would like deeper insight to the spiritual truth's behind this movie, a Bible study handbook is available which discusses the reality of sin, its pain, and its consequence.

My personal favorites by Ted Dekker are, Black/Red/White – The Trilogy, and Showdown.
My personal favorites by Frank Peretti are, The Oath, This Present Darkness, The Visitation, and, Piercing the Darkness
Last, but certainly not least, House. A big thumbs up from this fan of supernatural thrillers.
**This film is rated "R" and in my opinion, not intended for children.**

Top-level comments on this article: (10 total)Great Teresa. I'm certainly going to view it especially since my next book is gearing towards just that. I just seen "Knowing" and feel the say way.Thanks.DeborahHi Deborah,I haven't seen Knowing. I will have to check it out!Spritual warfare is real and I love how God has blessed these guys to tell its Biblical truth.Blessings to you on you new book. Sounds interesting. How can I get your most recent book?Me too!? Marijo
Hi Teresa.Wow! You are way tougher than my husband or me. I think that if I saw this movie or read the book, I would have nightmares for a month afterward.I thought that I wanted to see "Knowing," but now after Deborah's comment, I'm not so sure about that.I generally don't like stories in which people are forced to make decisions about hurting someone else in order to save themselves. So thanks for the review and the link! This is one I think I will miss.Hugs,DianneHi Dianne,Thanks for the comment :-)This is why I love Biblical thrillers, because it is always the truth that sets a person free. And the choices these people make in this movie have to do with everyday choices we personally make. The twist in the movie is that it's not as it all appears.I hate these kind of horror movies where the actual intent is that you have to chose who will survive and there is no other purpose except to show blood, guts, and gore, and every other word starts with "F".Still, you have to like suspense to like this movie. Relgion aside, it makes a for a good suspense :-)Blessings to you! Teresa
Good to have your review of House. Now, I'll have to get the DVD and see what the buzz is about. Thanks.Hi Grammy, thanks for reading. I am so glad I have peaked your interest.Let me know what you think. I am watching it again with my son and his girlfriend tomorrow night; last night it was with my daughter and her boyfriend.I am looking forward to the second time around. I know there is a lot I missed, especially since I spent the first 20 minutes trying to remember how it happened in the book. Bad move :-)Blesssings to you! Teresa
Just checked this out on Netflix, Teresa, and found TWO entries for the movie. One is dated 2008 and is out now; the other is dated 2007 and isn't yet available. Wonder what the difference is...!Hi Danny, I know there was a trailer promo when the book came out, but I don't know of an earlier movie made. If there is one out there, I completely missed the boat on that one.The other book by Dekker made into a movie is three, if you haven't seen that one, add it to your list.Let me know if you get any more info on this. I will try to investigate further. Thanks for the heads up!Blessings to you! Teresa
I must have been in a "cave!" I haven't heard of any of these except "Knowing." Got some work to do!!Great job, Sis!!Hey Bro! Funny, cuz I've never heard of "Knowing" This movie is awesome, the book is amazing too. I think you would enjoy it, it is a lot like your analogy of coming out of the cave - they have to get through the muck -- are they all willing?Enjoy! Let me know what you think!I hope you decide to read these authors, you will love it!Do you get to be with your family this weekend? Have a blessed weekend! Sis

Teresa - my all time favorite fiction book is Ted Dekker's Thre3! Just incredible - if you haven't read it drop everything and go do it!
Thanks for the movie review - I read this book and it was not one of my favorite by either author - I agree with their premise but it was almost too dark for me.... Thanks for writing a great review!Hi Marijo. Ted Dekker is my favorite. I have read and seen Thre3. House is one of my favorites.
Have you read - Black, Red, White? Showdown? Green just came out. I haven't had time to read it.I have read the trilogy and it waa so-so - LOVED Blessed Child and a Man called Blessed.I haven't read these two. I loved the trilogy and I am looking forward to Green. Showdown is about an experiment/bet made with the priest at the convent and they use a small town to carry this out. Ted Dekker does tend to write on the dark side, but he did grow up in the jungles where black magic is prevelent. He does an excellent job of showing the battle between good and evil and how man's will plays a big part of all of it. BUT redemption and the power of God stays strong - Love it!I thi9nk I read showdown - read especially Blessed Child - might have been the first I read of his and, in my estimation, one of his very best!Burn is the latest I have read or something about someone's daughter - not sure about Green - library doesn't have it yet or Showdown?
