"Rags to Robes, chains to wings--praise the Lord, my freed soul sings" ~~ Caleb and Sol
Dearest Daddy,
You have been on my mind all day. I wish I was sitting on my favorite rock over-looking the ocean, you know the one.
How is it that you love me so? I am but dust, yet you make me feel like a priceless ruby. You gave me everything long before I cared. I wanted nothing to do with you, yet you did not leave me alone. Instead, you gently called me--in the quiet of my heart--and in the chaos. I am forever grateful, yet what can I give in return? I have no voice that I could sing a beautiful song. I am no poet that I could write words of beauty. All I have is this tattered vessel to offer.
Thank you for saving me from my sin. Thank you for giving me ears to hear your voice--and now Father; I have another favor to ask of you. Fill me to overflowing with your eyes that I may see as you see, fill me with love that I may love as you love. Fill my lips that I may speak what you speak.
Please accept my humble offering--my heart is open. You see the deep things, cleanse me of the muck and receive my praise. Though the words be written by those you have gifted, I speak them from my heart and so they become mine.
As long as I live, I will tell of your wondrous works. Death and death alone will be the one to close my lips--until I reach the other side.
There's something about the ocean
Makes me rise up and praise
Something about the heavens
Makes me stand in awe again
Something about the sunrise
Reminds me of Your faithfulness
Something about the ocean
And I'm lost in love again
(Lyrics – Ten Shekel Shirt – Ocean)
Take me past the outer courts
Into the Holy Place
Past the brazen alter; Lord I want to see your face
Take me past the crowds of people
And priest who sing your praise
I hunger and thirst for your righteousness
And its only found one place
Take me into to the holy of holies
Take me in by the blood of the lamb
Take me into to the holy of holies
Take the coal touch my lips
Here I am
(Lyrics – Take Me In – Kutless)
Father, you are my hiding place and the one who fills my heart with songs of deliverance and whenever I am afraid I will trust in you. I love you and I thank you and praise you for being my daddy--my Abba Father, my Savior, and my friend.
Thanks for listening. I will write again soon.
Your forever-grateful daughter,
Teresa

Top-level comments on this article: (8 total)What a wonderful praise to our Daddy. I love the Bible verse where it says that we call Him "Abba, Father". That has so much meaning and you have brought that meaning out in your letter. I must disagree with one thing that you wrote, however. The line "Death and death alone will be the one to close my lips" - wrong, wrong, wrong. Your words will always be there through your writings. People will be able to read them (and hear your voice) long after you are gone.God's blessings,David"For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out Abba Father" Romans 8:15 - a very comforting verse. Thanks for the words, I stand corrected, hadn't looked at from that perspective :-)Lord bless you always. You got me thinking now, about how there was a time when looking at God as a Father figure did nothing for me. Growing up with a lousy father, didn't give God much credibility. Unfortunately, it is quite common. I think I need to write about this. hopefully shed some new light on this important subject.Have a wonderful day--and thanks again!
Amen! Thanks for the encouragement this morning, Teresa.Your welcome Caleb! Keep singing praises to our king!
Beautifully written Teresa. Many meaningful words. I particularly like the phrase about the sunrise. Sunrise has always meant so much for me. I rise early each morning, and have done so all my life. Even as a child, I used to get up and sit on the back porch steps and listen to the mocking birds as day broke. If I accidentally oversleep and miss the sunrise, I feel awful because it is this time of day that I say my most fervent and lengthy prayers. Thanks for sharing this with us.Hi Joel, Thanks for your input. It is so awesome to have that special time of day, mine is actually sunset. It would be a long, long article to share everything I feel about my Lord, but I did want to share these few things.Lord bless you always and keep the praises flowing.Teresa
