Do Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly with Your God

Good morning friends! I pray you have a wonderful day.
I didn't
have a specific devotional in mind this morning so I just flipped through my Bible and I believe the Lord brought me to the book of Micah.
How long has it been since I read the book of Micah?
An old song came to mind which led me to the following passage.
"He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly; to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8
Sometimes I am not sure what God wants me to do. Is there some great task I do not know about? Maybe and maybe not. Nevertheless, what do I do while I await revelation?
It seems this passage of Scripture says it all. It tells me that God is more concerned about how I live my life than He is about what I do with my life.
Am I just? Do I treat others with grace and respect? Do I love mercy? What does this mean anyway? Could it be that I should rejoice when someone receives kindness that they do not deserve? Could it be that I should be looking for ways to extend my hand of love?
What about walking humbly with my God? How do I do this? Maybe it means I live out my faith and put my beliefs into practice without condemning others who do not believe as I do?
I think I have just found my "great task". If I am focused on what I need to be doing, I won't have time to be pointing fingers at others.
This is how I want to live. This is the example I want to set as a Christian.
I can't help but wonder how much better life would be for everyone, if we who profess Christ would spend more time following these three tasks instead of fighting about manmade doctrines.
What a concept.
So what does the Lord require of you? It's simple. Do justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly with your God.
May the love and grace of God supply all of your needs and bless your day!
