E-Bay and a Pretzel that Looks Like the Virgin Mary? God Must be Weeping

I was watching the news a few minutes ago and I just could not take it.
It saddens me to the inth-degree that someone would actually be willing to pay a penny, let alone Two Million dollars for a pretzel.
First of all, The Virgin Mary is no longer a virgin. She stopped being a virgin after she gave birth to Jesus. She did have other children according to Scripture.
Secondly, she was a woman chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus. Does this make her special? Absolutely. However, she was a sinner just like the rest of us. She herself said she was in need of a Savior, and addressed God as such in her prayer after the angel came to her to give her the news that she was with child.
Finally, she is not one who can make herself appear anywhere, and even if she could-a pretzel? Really?
This is nothing more than a ploy from the devil and he is making a fool out of many who honor Mary. God has said that He would share His glory with no other, that includes the mother of Jesus.
I feel for the one who would pay this kind of money to have this treasured item -yet I fear for the one who has the audacity to sell such a thing-God have mercy on your soul!
Let's be sensible here, if God so blessed a person with this kind of money, are we to believe that he would want them to purchase a pretzel? Perhaps He would have something better in mind. How about feeding the poor for starters?
I probably should not have written this article so quickly, but as you might guess, I am quite disturbed by this.
Some of you know this is out of character for me and I usually back up what I say with Scripture, but one does not need to be versed in the Bible or religion to see that this is insane.
The belief that Mary has been appearing in various places is nothing new. I guess this is just the last straw for me. It's no wonder the world laughs at those who call themselves Believers. Please, people, don't fall prey to such silly ideas.
Okay, I am done. Next time around I will write an article that will explain my thoughts on what the Bible has to say about a very special woman named Mary.
Sleep well.

Top-level comments on this article: (7 total)hi teresa, nicely done. and interesting, and funny. thanks for sharing your story, best regards, sueHi Sue, thanks for your comment. After I calmed down, I thought what did I do? But then I realized it just needed to be said. I'm glad you saw the humor in it, I didn't want to come off as prudish -though maybe I did. I appreciate the support - have a wonderful evening! Teresa
Teresa, it would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Sometime people will grab at anything they think will bring them favor with God.
Hi LM, thanks for your comment. And I agree with you, as I mentioned to Sue, I didn't want to sound like a prude, and I am hoping the humor would cause people to see how silly this notion is. However, it truly broke my heart and I was angry because so many people are being deceived and the devil is laughing about it. It does drive me to pray, and I truly desire the eyes of those who are being decieved to be opened. And though I wrote out of frustration, I hope that it will cause some to consider searching out the Scriptures to see what the bible says about Mary. Thank you again for reading and commenting. Blessings to you, Teresa
Good job again Teresa. Yes, The Blessed Virgin Mary the most revered woman of all times. Yet, we even have controversy all around her and varied beliefs. Even in prayers people some how find fault. Now Jesus, in fulfillment of His Word said very clearly 'honor thy mother and thy father". Even at His first miracle did He not do this? She as the loving mother said " do as my son tells you" and He, loving His mother did so. So Jesus in all things has placed His mother in a high position of Honor. Certainly, not above God the Father but in a high place. If all woman modeled this Lady of Peace and the Mother of God, what a different place it would be. Then again who are we men who do not model Christ, while professing to point fingers.Best wishes and God bless RTMHi Robert, thank you for your comments and taking the time to read. I agree, a place on honor, yes. but where man failed is they have put her in a place of worship and things have gotten out of control. She was a women of humility and I believe that is why God chose her. God bless you too! Teresa
Hi Teresa, Good article, You mentioned the one who bought it could have used the money for better things...maybe the one who sold it will ? I hear he works in mysterious ways. Michael
Hi Michael, you are right to have that considered, and God forgive me for being judgmental, but the Bible is very clear and we see Jesus getting upset because the marketers outside the temple where doing this exact same thing. They were selling the animals that were to be used for the sacrifices for profit and personal gain. I have a hard time believing that someone who could take advantage of another for that kind of money does not have their own personal interest at heart. And even if they did do good with it, it is still wrong on how they attain it. God Himself said he is not pleased by an unholy offering. There is nothing holy about playing with another persons beliefs. I do appreciate your reading and commenting. I respect this and all comments. For me, it goes far beyond the preztel. I am working on writing about it. I suppose you have all seen the side of Teresa that gets angry for what I hope is a Godly reason. God bless you- smiles and friendship, Teresa
AMEN!!! To that!Hi Keith, thanks for reading and for the simple, yet strong sentiment. God Bless. Teresa
